“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say at the Dentist?”

Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track.  If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13.  These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations onto the Gospel track.  Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc.  To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved.

Anesthesia
–While the dentist is putting on my crown, I am so thankful that I will be crowned with anesthesia, so I won’t feel the pain.   That anesthesia reminds me of Psalm 103:4, which says: “God will crown you with loving kindness and tender mercies.”  Our sins separate us from God, so God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world.  He became the sacrificial lamb of God Who shed His blood on the cross and paid the price for our sins so that we could be forgiven and reconciled with God so that we would not feel the pain and suffering of hell (which is a million times worse than getting a crown put on without anesthesia) and have eternal life in heaven. …So have you ever received Jesus Christ as your Lord?

Crown – I am not very excited about getting this crown put on, but what comforts me is thinking about how thankful I am that I am a Christian.  When I get to heaven, I will receive a crown of righteousness, which is my reward for receiving Jesus as my Lord…So is Jesus your Lord?

Filling – As I am waiting to get a cavity filled I am not excited, but I am thankful that I am spirit-filled…. Since I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, I pray in tongues God’s perfect will for my life. God downloads His prayers into my spirit and I pray them out so that His perfect will can be done on earth. At times, He fills me with His Peace that really helps me, especially right now….Have you ever been filled with the Spirit?

Teeth - As I sit here and wait for the dentist, I will tell you the truth, I am not excited.  Going to the dentist is my least favorite thing to do, but since I am a Christian I know that at least I will go to heaven when I die….  Compared to going to hell, going to the dentist is a piece of cake!   The Bible says that those who do not know Jesus as Savior will go to hell where there is “weeping and gnashing of teeth” for all eternity (Matt. 22:13). They gnash and grind their teeth because the pain and suffering is so tormenting there.  Thank God I’m going to heaven when I die because I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior…. How about you?  Are you going to heaven?

Toothpick – As I use this wooden toothpick to get this food that is bothering me out of my teeth, it reminds me of the wooden cross that Jesus died on that gets the sin that is bothering God out of my heart…. Have you ever prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? …Would you like to pray right now?   1 John 1:9

X-ray – As I look at that x-ray that shows the inside of my teeth, it reminds me of the fact that God can see the inside of my heart.  He knows every thought that I think (Psalm 139:2) and He still loves me.  I am so thankful that God loves me.  Since God loves me even when I mess up, it makes me want to love Him and please Him and serve Him all the more...Have you ever received Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior?

Salvation Prayer:  “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead.  I repent of my sins.  Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.   Fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
