“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say around Auto Repair?”
Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track. If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13. These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations onto the Gospel track around auto repair. Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc. To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved.
Dirty Hands – You know they say, “cold hands, warm heart.” I may have dirty hands, but since I received Jesus as my Lord, I know that I have a clean heart because my sins are forgiven.….So is your heart clean or dirty?
Filthy Rag – This filthy rag reminds me of what the Bible says - that my self- righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). My good deeds or my good works will not cause me to be right with God and go to heaven. The truth is that my sin separates me from God. It is only by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who loves us all so much that He shed His blood and died on the cross for our sins, so that those that believe in Him will make it to heaven. That is how much He loves you….So have you received Jesus as your Savior? Eph. 2:8-9
Jumper Cables – As I watch you connect those jumper cables from your battery to my battery, I’m so thankful for the power from your battery that goes through those jumper cables into my battery giving new resurrection power to my dead car. So those jumper cables remind me of Jesus Christ ‘cause He is the bridge between God and man and when I chose to receive Him as my Lord, His resurrection power connected me to God and gave my dead soul resurrection life and eternal life in heaven as well….Do you need a jump to receive eternal life? Let’s pray. 2 Cor. 5:17; 1 John 4:7Lift /Jack – As I watch you lift up this car, it reminds me the many times I have been uplifted in my relationship with God. When I asked Jesus to become my Lord, He became so real to me and now He lifts me up and brings me joy even in a bad situation.…So has Jesus ever lifted you up?
Oil Change – Getting this oil change reminds me of the time that I changed the oil that was in my heart. I was sad and depressed. But when I prayed to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, everything changed in my life. Like it says in Isaiah 61:3, God gave me beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. It was the best change that I ever made. Now I have God’s oil of joy. So do you need an oil change in your heart? I’d be happy to pray a prayer with you. Rom.14:17
Tools - These tools remind me of the tools of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit, His love, joy and peace and good Christian friends to work on repairing and restoring whatever is broken in our lives. Even trials like a broken down car can teach us about God’s love and His faithfulness as the car gets repaired & up and running again…Do you know how much God loves you?
Under the Hood – As I look under the hood of this car, it reminds me of how God can look under my outer appearance and look right into my heart. He wants to repair the brokenness, remove the devil’s lies, and get me up and running again.
Wrench – is a tool that reminds me of how God can turn things around. All things work together for good for those who love God (Rom. 8:28)….Salvation Prayer: “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
