“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say about Soccer?”

Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track.  If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13.  These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations around soccer onto the Gospel track.  Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc.  To help pull them in, after the “”, there is an invitation to be saved.

Cleats (boots) – I use these cleats because they give me good traction on the field so that I can play hard and run hard against the opposing team.  It reminds me of what praying in tongues does for me.  It keeps me on track with God and it helps me to pray hard and run hard for Him against the opposing enemy, who is the devil…So have you ever prayed in tongues?   Acts 2:2;  Acts 1:8;  Jude 20;  Heb. 12:1-2

Free Kick – A free kick reminds me of the Gospel, which is the free gift of eternal life.   You can get this free gift by believing in Jesus Christ and praying to receive Him as your Savior. …Have you ever received this free gift?   Eph. 2:8, Rom.10:9

Goal  - As I look at that soccer goal, it reminds me of the goal for my life.  As a Christian, my goal is to know Christ and to make Him known…Do you know how much Jesus loves you?  Do you know that He has a plan and a purpose for your life? Would you like to pray to receive Jesus as Lord?   Phil 3:10

Header – At times, I like to use a header to get the ball down the field in the right direction.  A header reminds me of when I read the Word of God it renews my mind and gets my life headed in the right direction.  Rom 12:1-2;  Ps. 119:105

Instep Drive – An accurate instep drive reminds me of how successful my life is when I walk step by step with my Lord.                    1 Peter 2:21;  Psalm 119:105

Juggling the Ball – When I juggle the ball without using my hands, it reminds me of what my hands are really for.  Well, since I am a Christian, I use them to pray….Have you ever prayed to receive Jesus as your Lord  and Savior?   1 Tim. 2:8

Marking – Marking the opposing player enables my teammate to get the ball up the field and closer to the goal.  As a Christian, that reminds me of how, no matter what denomination, we are all on the sameteam. The opposing team is the devil.  So we all need to help and guard each other and walk in unity so that we can all fulfill the call of God on our lives.  John 17:11

Referee
 – The referee that judges all the close calls, reminds me of God who will judge where I will spend eternity.  If a person prays a salvation prayer to receive Jesus as their Lord, then they will go to heaven for eternity…Have you ever prayed that salvation prayer?

Soccer Ball – This black and white soccer ball that I am trying to control and dribble towards the goal reminds me of the Bible.  The Bible is also black and white.  When I read it and believe it and give God control of my life, then I will have the best life and I will win.  I know that God loves me. My goal is to trust in Him and let Him take control of my life. Then I will score big for all eternity.  I will gain eternal life for me and for many others too.  Prove. 3:5-6

Salvation Prayer:  “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead.  I repent of my sins.  Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.   Fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
