“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say About Tennis?”
Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track. If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13. These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations onto the Gospel track. Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc. To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved
Fault – When the judge yells “fault!” it reminds me of what the devil yells at God when I sin while I am serving God. He is the accuser of the brethren and yells: “It’s his fault!” God knows that it is the devil that tempted me to sin in the first place, so it is really his fault. When I repent and ask God to forgive me for yielding to temptation and sinning, He forgives me and Jesus takes the “fault” or sin on the cross for me. Then I get back on the “court of life” and serve Him again ….So have you ever served God? Is He your Lord & your Savior?
Loser – I am sorry that you did not win, but you do not have to be a loser. In 1 John 5:4 it says that “Everyone that is born again overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” So if you have a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, then you will have the victory for all eternity. You will never be a loser that goes to hell, but a winner in heaven who praises God!...So are you a winner? If not, let’s pray. 2 Cor. 2:14
Net – The ball went right into the net. Sigh. But that net reminds me of a fisherman’s net used to catch fish. Christians are called to be “fishers of men.” Do you know how much Jesus loves you? Have you ever prayed to receive Him as your Lord? He is coming soon… Do you want to pray? Matt. 3:3Serving the Ball – As I watch him serve that ball, it reminds me of how we should serve the Lord – with passion and aggression. One way to serve Him is to witness to unbelievers and tell them about God’s love…So do you know how much God loves you? Have you ever prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord?
Tennis – I always thought that it was kind of funny how they keep score in Tennis. When the score is “30- Love,” it really means that it is 30 to zero. I guess they decided to replace the zero with Love so that the player will not feel so bad. The truth that’s so ironic is that the Bible says that God is Love. So the score could be: “30 – God.” If the score was 30 - God, then it does not matter how many points the other side had, you know that God’s sidewill win because He is God! But seriously, the only way to be on God’s side for all eternity is praying to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior….Would you like ask Jesus to come into your heart to be on God’s side in heaven? Then pray this prayer after me. Rom. 8:31, 37-39; 1 John 4:8
Water - After that workout, I need a drink. This water reminds me of the Living Water. His name is Jesus Christ. His Spirit fills me up to overflowing so that I will never thirst again… Would you like to pray to receive Him as your Lord and Savior? John 4:10
Winner – You won! Good job! I’m proud of you. People love to win and I believe that is because God loves to win and we are all created in His image. But do you know what God really wants to win? He wants to win you. He loves you so much and so He wants to win you over into His Kingdom. When you pray to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord you will win the reward of heaven for all eternity…. So would you like to pray? Prove. 11:30Salvation Prayer: “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
