Excuses I've Heard:              Truth to Say:
I want to witness, but I do not know what to say. Read this website and then you will have many ideas of what you can say.
Witnessing is not my personality.  I am too shy.    Proverbs 28:1 says that the righteous are as bold as a lion.  If you are born again, then you are righteous, so you do have boldness…it is there underneath your fears.  Bind the fear and loose upon yourself  boldness.  Once you read this website, you have a lot of ideas as to what to say.

You see, some people are extroverts, but I am an introvert, so I do not witness to others.

It is not about being an extrovert or an introvert.  Witnessing is about responsibility.  Jesus entrusted us with the Great Commission to go tell people about Christ and so as Christians we are called to obey.   You can always give someone a tract and leave it with them if you are too fearful to say anything.

I did not feel led to witness to that person You do not need "to be led" to obey the Great Commission.  Most of the time that is the devil trying to get you to shut your mouth.  You do not need to be led to witness to someone because the Great Commission already commands you to witness to the lost.  The question is not whether you should witness or not....The question should be:  I want to witness, but what do I say?  This website will help you.  You should witness to every person who comes into your life who needs salvation.  We have all been called to be ministers of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18).
I don't believe that you need to use words to witness to someone.  You just need to live right before them, so they can see your good works.

Rom 10:9-14  The Great Commission says to “preach the Gospel.”   It does not say:  Do good deeds and walk according to the Gospel before them so that will see your good conduct and then get saved.  The Sadducees and the Pharisees lived right before the people and kept the Law and totally missed Jesus and what salvation was really all about.  Yes, that is true, we do need to live right before people, but we need to go to a higher level.  We need to live right before people AND speak words of life and truth into their hearts and into their situations with a word from the Lord or a comforting, encouraging scripture from the Word of God.

I believe that you must have a relationship with someone before you can witness to them Jesus did not have a relationship with the woman at the well, nor with Nicodemas when He witnessed to them.   It is actually harder to witness to those that you know or those that are your friends because of the fear of rejection or the fear of man

I am not a minister, so I cannot witness.  I have not been to Bible School.

Any person that is born again can witness to others and tell them about Jesus.  2 Cor. 5:18 says God called us all to be ministers of reconciliation.  You do not need any ministry credentials.  You just need a love for the Lord and a love for the lost.

I believe that religion is a personal thing and that we should not impose our beliefs on others.

Sharing the Gospel with someone is the most loving thing that you can do.  It shows that you care about them.   It is a true act of kindness.  They just do not realize it yet.  But they will thank you for it when they’re in heaven.

I do not think that witnessing is the politically correct thing to do.

Jesus was political and he broke tradition.  He broke the Pharisee’s and the Sadducees’ rules left and right.   Tell them Isaiah 9:6  “For unto us a child is born….and the government shall be upon his shoulder and His name shall be called …the mighty God, the everlasting Father…  of the increase of his government and peace, there shall be no end.”

I may offend them if I share the Gospel with them.  I am afraid of what they might say.

Yes, you may offend them now, but they will be a lot more offended & angry with you later when they are hell because you were too afraid to tell them about salvation thru Jesus Christ.

I do not feel like being teased or mocked for talking about my faith in Jesus Christ.

Do you want to be Christ-like?   Jesus was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, & familiar with suffering (Isaiah 53:3).  Don’t be a wimp.  Speak up for the Lord.

I have so many worries.  I myself am just trying to keep my head above water.  It is too hard for me to be concerned about anyone else’s salvation.

Then you really need to take some extra time to cast your own cares upon the Lord because He does care for you and He does love you.  Cast your cares upon Him so that you can care about others and share the Gospel with them.

I do not have time.  I am too busy.

Jesus is coming soon.  If you wait in line anywhere, then you do have time to witness to those next to you in line, wherever you are.

I am not called to witness.  I am a praise and worship leader

What causes praise and rejoicing and worship in heaven?  One person becoming born again.  We are all called to be ministers of reconciliation.   In order for people to praise and worship God, they must be saved.

I am not called to witness.  I am not an evangelist.   I’m a pastor.

Did you ever read about the Good Shepherd? If he loses a sheep, he goes after it until he finds it.  Luke 15: 7 - There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who do not need to repent.

I am not called to witness. I am an intercessor.

I am not called to evangelize, but I will pray for those that are witnessing.

I am glad that you are an intercessor. But the Bible says in 2 Cor. 5:18 we are ALL called to be ministers of reconciliation. You have to do more than just pray for the lost.  You need to get out of your prayer closet and actually witness to the lost and then pray “prayers of salvation”  with the lost.

There are so many Christians out there already.  God does not really need me.  I will let someone else do the witnessing.

Luke 10:2 says the harvest is plenteous and the laborers are FEW.  God does need you. You are valuable. Jesus is coming soon and He needs all hands on deck to pull in this end time harvest.

To tell you the truth.  I am afraid that they will  reject me.

You are called to tell them Gospel.   It is their choice as to whether they accept Jesus as their Savior or not.  In Luke 10:16 Jesus said, “He who listens to you listens to Me; but he who reject Me rejects Him who sent me.”

I do not believe that we should witness.  We should be tolerant of other’s beliefs.

That is the devil’s whine:  “You need to be tolerant.”   To be tolerant is:  to allow to be without hindrance.  Satan wants to run his race without being hindered by us Christians. Being silent causes false religion demons to be able to run around with no obstacles and no restraint.  Jesus was loving and yet He was not tolerant.  He threw over the tables of the money changers.  (Matt 21:12-13)
