“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say
When Fishing?”

The hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track.  One way to do it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13.  These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to transition conversations onto the Gospel track.  Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc.  To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved.

 – This bait reminds me of the bait of satan, which is offense.  Offense keeps many people out of church.  Pastors and church members are not perfect.  They are just forgiven. Unless your sins are forgiven, you won’t make it into heaven. When you pray to receive Jesus as Lord, your sins will be forgiven…. When you forgive others, Rom. 12:19 says that vengeance is the Lord’s and He will repay you.       Matt. 6:14

Fisherman – Being out here fishing reminds me of what Jesus said to His disciples in Matt.4:19:  “Come, I will make you fishers of men.”… It says in Proverbs 11:30 that “he who wins souls is wise.”  I asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord and I committed my life to be a fisher of men….Do you know how much Jesus loves you?  Is Jesus your Lord?      John 3:16

Lake - I love to go fishing in lakes, but there is one lake that I want to avoid and that is the lake of fire.  That is the punishment for people who will not receive Jesus as Lord…but do you know how much Jesus loves you?  He wants you to spend eternity with Him

Net – This fishing net reminds me of what it says in Matthew 13:47.   Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish.  The good fish were collected in baskets and the bad fish were thrown away.  He explained that this is how it will be at the end of the age.  The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous.  They will throw the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  But the good fish will be saved.  I know I am a good fish because I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  Are you a good fish?  Would you like to pray to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Rod and Reel – As I go fishing with my rod and reel it reminds me of what it says in Psalms 23:4: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;  for You are with me: Yourrodand Your staff; [or Your rod and Your reel! J] they comfort me.”  It is a comfort knowing that Jesus is my Shepherd and my Lord… Is He your Lord?

Tug on the Line – Fishing is so relaxing.  You just sit and wait until you get a bite.  So I take the time to quietly pray and then listen to God.  Many times He will tug on my heart and then I will catch an exciting fresh revelation about Him that I never knew before. It is the same excitement I feel when a fish is tugging on my line…I believe God is tugging at your heart right now…Will you let Him catch you and pray to receive Jesus as Lord?

Worm  - This bait reminds me of the many times that Jesus referred to worms and He was not fishing.  In Mark 9:44  Jesus describes hell as where: “their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” There is so much fire in hell, I know that the worms should get burned to death, but the Bible says they never die.  That is so gross!  I’m so glad that I received Jesus as my Lord.  I am saved from hell.  And I’m glad this worm I’m using is dead….So is Jesus your Lord?  Are you saved?

Salvation Prayer:  “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead.  I repent of my sins.  Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.   Fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
