“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say at a Bar?”
Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track. If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13. These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations onto the Gospel track around or in a bar. But I do not suggest that you go to a bar to witness to the lost. Many times restaurants have bar areas or you may be outside a bar. I just don't want anyone to be tempted. Please use wisdom. Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc. To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved.
Backslider –So you say you are a backslider, huh? Well, you can always slide back and rededicate your life to the Lord.
Beer – So you want to make good grades in school? So you want to be wiser? Then you need to stop drinking this beer. You won’t become any wiser drinking this type of beer and that is the truth.
Bloody Mary –This drink reminds me of the blood of Jesus Christ. With His blood He paid for our sins on the cross so that we could be reconciled to God and saved from going to hell…So this blood’s for you.
Cheers! (clink glasses) That reminds me of what Jesus said in Matt. 16:33: “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” So are you cheerful ‘cause of Jesus or because of this drink?
Cigarette pack – (When the smoker hits the cigarette pack against the palm of his hand) When you did that it reminds me of the hammer that drove the nails into Jesus’ hands. He died on that cross because He loves you…..So have you ever prayed to receive Jesus as your Lord & Savior? John 20:26-27.
Cigarette ashes - As I look at those cigarette ashes, it reminds me of something comforting that God said – that He will give us “beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Do you know how much God loves you? Isaiah 61:3Cigarette Butt– That cigarette butt reminds me of all the people that say: “I am going to get saved and live for God, BUT I want to party a little more first…” But one never knows when their last day on earth will be. A person could, heaven forbid, die suddenly in car wreck. Those that intended to get saved, but never did will end up in hell. Todayis the day of salvation. Would you like to pray now and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord? Luke 16:19:31
Light Beer – That light beer reminds me of the light of the world that fills me up with love and joy and peace. His name is Jesus Christ. There is no high like the Most High. John 8:12.
Lukewarm –When a friend(s) asks you to go to a bar:.. Well, I hate it when my drink becomes lukewarm. God doesn’t like lukewarm either. Rev. 3:15 says: “Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew you out of my mouth.” So as a Christian, I do not want to go because I’d be lukewarm with one foot in the bar and one foot in church, but we can somewhere else (and name a better place!)
Liquor – This used to be my favorite liquor, but then I found a new Comfort. When I prayed to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I found THE Comforter who is the Holy Spirit. Now he lives down south in my soul. Eph 5:18 says “to not be drunk, but be filled with the Spirit through singing spiritual songs making melody in your heart to the Lord. Ps. 16:11 says that in God’s Presence is fullness of joy!Salvation Prayer: “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
