“I Want to Witness, But What Do I Say around Dogs & Cats?”
Many times the hardest part about witnessing is the transition from an everyday conversation onto the Gospel track. If you do not know how to do this, you will not be witnessing at all. One way to turn the conversation it is through relating the Gospel to objects around you like Jesus did many times in Matthew 13. These object evangelism icebreakers will train you how to turn conversations onto the Gospel track around dogs and cats. Jesus is coming soon, so use loving boldness and be compassionate. Then be led by the Spirit using whatever method. You may prophesy or pray for healing, etc. To help pull them in, after the “…”, there is an invitation to be saved.
Cat’s Fur - It is so comforting to pet the soft fur of my cat. It reminds me of the Holy Spirit whose manifest presence is my true Comforter from the pain and sorrow in life. As I praise and worship the Lord in song, His presence comes that is full of love and peace and joy. So do you have that comfort in your life? Have you ever prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Eph. 5:18; John 14:16
Cat Nursing Kittens – As I watch that cat nurse her kittens it reminds me of El Shaddai which is a name for God meaning “The many breasted One” to signify that God’s provision never runs dry. 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,” ….So is Jesus your Lord? Phil 4:19; Matt 6:33
Cat and Mouse - Did you hear the joke about how the cat ate the mouse? The cat’s owner was so upset! She could not answer her e-mails that day. She had to buy a new - computer mouse! (laugh) I am so thankful that prayer does not work like e-mail. Because I received Jesus as my Lord, I have a connection with God by His Spirit that is better than any wireless connection could ever be. God always hears my prayers. ….So are you connected to God?
Dog Poop – When I clean up this dog poop, it reminds me of how thankful I am that God cleaned up the messes that I made in my life. When I received Jesus Christ as my Lord, His shed blood on the cross cleansed me and reconciled me to God. Now I have a relation- ship with God and eternal life in heaven…So do you? 1 John 1:9
Dog Tugs on Leach – When I walk my dog, sometimes he tugs and pulls away from me to go where he wants to go, so have to pull him back. It reminds me of how Jesus is my Lord and so the Holy Spirit pulls me back when I am tempted to sin or rebel and go my own way. It is my choice whether I will obey or not...Have you ever felt God's pull on your heart to pray to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior? 1 Cor. 10:13
Tail Wagging - I know my dog is happy and excited when he/she wags its tail. That tail wagging reminds me of how God feels when one sinner repents and receives Jesus as their Lord. He is so joyful because He knows that because of that one right decision that He will spend eternity with them! J Luke 15:7
Walking your Dog – Since I am his master, my dog goes wherever I lead him on his leash. And since I am a Christian, I go wherever the Lord leads me to go by His Spirit. So He walks me! Today He led me to walk my dog down this street. So you must be someone special. Do you know how much Jesus loves you? Have you ever felt the Holy Spirit tug on you heart to pray to receive Jesus as your Lord? Rom. 8:14
Salvation Prayer: “Father, I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Jesus, I ask You to forgive me and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me from hell and giving me eternal life in heaven, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
